Australian Computer Society Case Study
ICT Governance

Evinact supported the Australian Computer Society (ACS) to develop a fit-for-purpose IT Governance Framework aligned with its evolving organisational strategy and priorities. The engagement established organisation-wide governance structures, principles, roles, responsibilities and decision rights, supported by a Project Prioritisation Framework to strengthen the assessment and prioritisation of ICT investments.
ACS is the professional association for Australia’s ICT sector, representing more than 42,000 members across business, education, government and the community. Building on a review of its ICT operating environment and the development of a future-focused IT operating model and roadmap, ACS sought a cohesive governance framework to support its strategic direction. The framework was designed to align with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, establish clear organisation-wide accountability and decision-making arrangements, and promote consistent and transparent ICT investment decisions.
Evinact engaged key stakeholders, reviewed relevant organisational documentation and undertook design and options analysis to translate ACS’s strategic, operational and governance requirements into practical arrangements.
The IT Governance Framework was aligned with COBIT and ITIL and defined a framework-on-a-page, governance structures, governance principles, roles and responsibilities, and decision rights. Evinact also developed a supporting Project Prioritisation Framework comprising evaluation criteria, an assessment tool, a prioritisation matrix and practices for consistent application.
The engagement enabled ACS to make ICT governance and investment decisions with greater clarity, consistency and transparency. Clear accountability and decision rights strengthened alignment between ICT initiatives and organisational priorities, while a structured approach to evaluating and prioritising investments supported more informed allocation of resources and greater confidence that ICT investment decisions would contribute to ACS’s strategic objectives.
