De-risking AI for aged care
Health & Aged Care case study

Evinact worked with an aged care provider to review and uplift its existing Artificial Intelligence (AI) Framework and to develop a process to increase transparency and mitigate risk in AI decision-making.
The context
As AI technologies become increasingly embedded in aged care operations, providers face mounting pressure to ensure their systems are transparent, well-governed, and ethical. Whilst the customer had drafted an initial AI Framework, they recognised the need to revisit their policies in line with evolving legislation and industry best practice.
Evinact was engaged to refresh the AI Framework and to develop an evaluation process and governance model for AI initiatives.
The method
Evinact reviewed existing AI policies, frameworks and relevant legislation in an aged care context. Our team also engaged key business stakeholders to establish a shared understanding of risk appetite, current challenges, barriers, and future state plans.
These findings informed the development of a refreshed AI Framework to provide clear principles, governance structures, reporting, roles and responsibilities, and risk management processes.
Evinact also delivered a structured triage process to support the early identification, assessment, and prioritisation of key risks associated with proposed AI initiatives before they are considered by executive leadership. The process enables a repeatable self-assessment of potential benefits, risks and harms from clinical and non-clinical AI use, which embeds robust oversight mechanisms and minimises potential risks of AI use.
The impact
As a result of working with Evinact, the aged care provider has the means for safe, ethical and responsible use of AI.
The refreshed AI Framework establishes robust controls and processes for the use of AI technologies, ensuring transparency and accountability in AI decision-making. Additionally, the triage process enables the self-assessment of benefits, risks and potential harms of AI use by staff.
The customer can be confident their AI systems are appropriately monitored, explainable and governed effectively to prevent bias, protect client dignity, and maintain public trust.
