Maturing data and analytics to deliver better patient care
Health & Aged Care case study

Evinact collaborated with a Queensland Hospital and Health Service to develop a data and analytics operating model which aimed to optimise decision making, clinical service delivery and patient care.
The context
The Hospital and Health Service (HHS) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality healthcare across a South East Queensland.
The method
Through a series of stakeholder engagement activities, including interviews, workshops and a staff survey, the Evinact team built an in-depth understanding of the HHS’ current ecosystem of data and analytics, as well as the desired future state. Strengths, challenges, and areas of improvement were identified, including limited data governance, unclear roles and responsibilities between data teams, critical dependency risks, duplication of technology platforms and a lack of a clear operating model for data and analytics across the health service.
These identified pain points and opportunities, along with industry best practice, were used to develop an future state operating model for the data and analytics function with a supporting Roadmap and Implementation Plan.
The artefacts developed by Evinact clearly outlined:
- the value proposition of data and analytics for the HHS and the community they serve.
- clear roles and responsibilities for data and analytics across multiple data teams.
- the capabilities required to deliver on the desired future state and supporting governance structures.
- the activities required to achieve the future state over a three-year period.
