Maturing data and analytics to deliver better patient care
Health & Aged Care case study

Evinact collaborated with a Queensland healthcare provider to enhance their data and analytics capabilities, aiming to optimise clinical service delivery and patient care.
The context
The healthcare provider plays a critical role in delivering high-quality healthcare across a diverse and dynamic region. Using extensive digital healthcare systems, they are recognised as one of Australia’s first digital health services providers and are driven to uplift data and analytics to enable informed decision-making, improved patient outcomes and operational efficiencies.
Evinact was engaged to assist the customer in maturing their data practices and governance to support their mission of a patient first approach to data and analytics.
The method
Through a series of stakeholder engagement activities, including interviews, workshops and a staff survey, the Evinact team built an in-depth understanding of the customer’s current ecosystem of data and analytics, as well as the desired future state. Strengths, challenges, and areas of improvement were identified, including limited data governance, unclear roles and responsibilities between data teams, critical dependency risks, duplication of technology platforms and a lack of a clear operating model for data and analytics across the health service.
These identified pain points and opportunities, along with industry best practice, were used to develop an optimised operating model for the data and analytics function with a supporting Roadmap and Implementation Plan.
The artefacts developed by Evinact clearly outlined:
- the value proposition of data and analytics for the healthcare provider and the community they serve.
- the capabilities required to deliver on desired future state and supporting organisation and governance structures
- Clear roles and responsibilities for data and analytics across the organisation
- the activities required to achieve the future state over a three-year period.
The impact
As a result of working with Evinact, the customer now has a clear pathway for maturing data and analytics practices across clinical service delivery. Implementing the recommendations outlined by Evinact will support the customer to be more responsive to patient needs through:
- Access to the right data at the right time
- Safe and secure handling of data
- Enhanced data governance and management
- Improved data quality
- Data-informed decision making
